Circumcision for Muslim Baby boy

Circumcision is Islam is Sunnah. In Islam it is one of the five acts according to Fitrah. The evidence can be found within the hadith - Abu Hurairah Radiyallahu Anh had narrated that the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)  had stated, "Five practices are from Fitrah: Circumcision, shaving off pubic hair, clipping the nails, plucking the hair of armpits and trimming mustaches." (Sahih Muslim, Vol.1, Hadith No.181)

The process of circumcision or how to perfrom circumcision is the fairly straight forward act of removing the foreskin from the penis. This is done not just within Islm but also other faiths are known to practise this including Judaism and even non relgious followers (Atheists). In the UK this is done by a medical professional as the NHS do not consider it to be a required type of surgery so it is best to find one from calling doctor surgeries or asking friends for reccomendations which is the best place to start.

There will be an assistant who will support the doctor through the process. The whole procudure is very quick and does not take more than an hour from start to finish, depending upon the doctor and their method of work. It is a very common practice in the UK and there are some doctors that do many hundreds in a year. It costs around £150 GBP to £200 GBP. The doctor will also leave some medical items for the child to aid his recovery.

When to do the male circumcision or if your son is old enough is an often question that gets asked and the answer is very simple, as soon as possible. It is easier and less painful for a newborn baby to be circumcised than it is for a baby around 6 months old, speak to the doctor who will be performing the circumcision for when it is best as there may be an appointment needed. There is evidence for a date as Related in al-Bayhaq & Tabarani "The Prophet (SAW) performed the Aqiqah of al-Hasan and al-Hussein & circumcised them on the 7th. Day."

It would also be wise to also contact your sons doctor as there may be some medical issues with your child which may make circumcision not possible at that particular time and may warrant a time delay until it is possible to go ahead with it.
